Use the @bridge AI Chat
The @bridge AI Chat is a panel inside Thunderbird where the AI of your choice works your mail and calendar — across every account at once, on your machine.
Open it and ask
Section titled “Open it and ask”-
Click the @b button in Thunderbird to open the chat.
-
Pick your provider and model from the dropdowns (switch any time).
-
Ask in plain language — for example:
- “How many unread emails do I have per account?”
- “Summarise the thread from Maya and draft a friendly reply.”
- “Find the invoice from last month and forward it to accounting.”
- “What’s on my calendar today, and is anything clashing?”
Reads are instant; writes ask first
Section titled “Reads are instant; writes ask first”Reading, searching, and summarising happen straight away. Anything that changes your mail or calendar — sending, replying, moving, deleting, creating an event — pauses for your confirmation before it runs. The AI proposes; you approve.
Make it yours
Section titled “Make it yours”- Prompt library — save prompts you reuse (Settings → Prompt library), then run them from the chat.
- Preferences — set which account the AI sends from, which calendar it uses, and the default tone (Settings → Preferences).
- Any provider, any model — connect several and switch per task; local Ollama keeps everything on your machine.
